Pilot Design Review Panel to foster excellence for buildings and public spaces

The City Planning Division is holding consultation sessions on its Design Review Panel Pilot Project.

Design Review Panels are used successfully by many cities in Canada and internationally to improve the design quality of buildings and public spaces. Panel members are recognized design and planning professionals who provide expert, objective advice to City staff as part of the development approvals process. Toronto is now examining the feasibility of a Pilot Design Review Panel for the City.

The public will have a chance to learn more about the project and to provide input on Monday, February 13 from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Metro Hall Council Chamber, 55 John Street. Consultation with other stakeholders including the development industry and design professions will take place in the coming months.

Further information is available on the web, including videos from Toronto’s Design Review Symposium, at www.toronto.ca/planning

Super! I'll be there!

Thanks again (and sorry have to move this to TO issues again as well). The city is certainly moving quite quickly considering the new City of Toronto Act enabling such a design review panel won't come into force until next year.

Seriously? I didn't realise that assent was such a long way off. When in 2007 is it due?
