Much work going on at the Portland Commons site for a Saturday. Lots of crew on site and both cranes in operation. Some notes: Two large Domestic Hot Water tanks were lifted up to the mechanical penthouse earlier today - my apologies, did not get down to the street in time to get a photo of them. Two smaller expansion tanks for the hot water heating system are also currently staged on the ground ready for lifting into place.
Portland Street itself is closed between Front and Niagara streets with two big float trucks holding four large air handling units (AHU's - as marked in the wrap on the units), also being lifted up to the mechanical penthouse today. The final photo is the sidewalk announcement of Portland Street to be closed on September 16 - presumably for crane removal.
The north tower crane is coming down today. First photos - the mobile crane has arrived and been set up - it is not as large a mobile as some, the tower crane is not that high and is close to the street, so not that much leverage is needed. First counterweight is coming down.
Second (and Final) set of crane removal photos - starting with the work in progress, and then a couple of photos of the Portland Commons building with the north crane gone.
