A real shame since the older bank towers are some of the best architecture in the city and most of what will be blocking them out is mediocre at best.

Well, there is something to be said about architecture and design. I admit I'm guilty of getting all excited about the height and volume of our growing skyline and just accepting that some of the buildings, not all, are not that exciting or impressive. We really should have better towers down by the lake since it's in some ways the face of our city to the world. 😃

Description:
The city has received a revised Zoning By-law Amendment application to permit a mixed-use development with residential and retail uses. A single building having a height of 59 storeys is proposed. Overall 1002 dwelling units are proposed including 84 affordable rental units. A total of 340 vehicle parking spaces and 1,003 bicycle parking spaces are proposed. An on-site public park of 500 square metres is proposed.

With the reduction in total units the actual percentage of units in the new proposal has actually gone up by 1%, the units might be smaller than the original proposal, the city should encourage the developer to go back to the 2 tower proposal or increase the height of the 1 tower so that we can get more affordable rental units.

It has gone from 2 towers to 1 because of city planning.
