I actually wish they would rebuild the old RCMI elsewhere now, instead of trying to glom it onto what has become a surprisingly sleek, well done building.
 
All of the cladding looks good, including those nice dark mullions, and the materials all seem to work well together.

In all those photos, I'm thankful that there are good views of the spire of Old City Hall in the east end. You can still see it from Broadview at Riverdale Park, just like in the 1970s when the On Building Downtown: Design Guidelines for the Core Area planning study was released. It has a catalogue of terminating vistas and view corridors. Some have been ruined, but a significant number are intact.

why? so as not to detract from the new building? i don't believe RCMIs presence will be noticeable to the average passer by.
