Project:
proposed construction of an Athlete's Village for the 2015 Pan Am Games. The project will include construction of 2,100 residential units to house the 8,500 competitors, coaches and officials for the 2015 Pan Am Games. The site will include a recreation centre, a 50M pool, a 400m track; an accreditation centre to process athletes, team officials and visitors, and Village Polyclinic. The Village will also house retail space, restaurants, medical centre, banks, entertainment areas, parkland and walking/running/cycling trails. Following the Games, these residential units will be converted into one-, two- and three-bedroom condos, as well as mixed-income apartments, providing accommodation for approx 4,000 people. The project will be certified under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System with a LEED Gold certification.
