Having had a chance to look at it, I'd say that whatever your expectations are, be prepared that it isn't contextual. The massing is similar to the existing library building. The ground floor entrance is raised, with a series of various-sized, connected vaults serving as lobby (with a dramatic escalator), cafe, etc. Vertical circulation elements (elevator shafts, staircases) appear to be relegated to the north and south ends of the building, fitted into "legs". The upper floors are interspersed with double height, stepped spaces akin to auditorium/lecture theatres.
And yes, the overall shape is suggestive of a molar with short legs; and no, the cladding isn't articulated.

Just a plain description of the as yet unapproved design materials published in the latest issue of Azure.

I hope there is commercial space on the first floor.
There is retail at grade along Yonge St.
There is no first floor, in the sense that you're implying.
