The building is huge and hulking, but beautiful! That's not a criticism, I just find the size jarring compared to what stood there for a hundred years.

Now that Gould is a dead end street with almost zero traffic I'd like to see the city move the existing traffic light a few metres north to Elm. It's always a mess at that intersection with turning cars having to wait quite a long time because of all the pedestrian traffic.

As much as I agree that move would improve vehicle traffic, the massive pedestrian traffic on Gould should take priority IMO.

I don't agree with removing the traffic light. That intersection sees heavy pedestrian traffic pretty much the entire school day.
Maybe the topic could be revisited once construction of this building is completed.

Take away our traffic light, and watch the Ryerson student body (many of which come from the south, from Dundas Station) jaywalk enough to bring Yonge Street traffic to a complete standstill. Especially with the small plaza being created out front of the new SLC and the pedestrianized Gould Street, having a traffic light/ crosswalk here just makes sense.

The steel work is in place for the 2 level walkway being this building and the campus.
The look of the panels changes as you walk by them.
The blank north wall is out of place at this time and protection for future development to the north of it.
The corners are columnless on Yonge St for the building. The floor beams for the floors are not the normal square box type.

That makes sense. Just surprised me since it isn't visible in any of the renders.
Would be cool being able to walk indoors from Church all the way to Yonge.
You could actually do it from Mutual all the way to Yonge, via the RTA building.
With respect to the traffic light, what I'd like to see is the light moved north to Elm, but a pedestrian light (on the south side of Gould) remain. They could turn at the same time, so that you would have 3 crosswalks across Yonge in that area.
Also, with "Restaurant Row" going in on Edward, moving the lights south a block could be an option as well. Most Ryerson traffic crossing Yonge is going southbound anyway, so having the light there instead of at Gould may make sense, and wouldn't be a big change from a pedestrian point of view.
Of course, the potential for putting in a subway entrance at Gould and Yonge could change the traffic flow substantially as well.

You can! Enter the Rogers Communication Centre, take the bridge across Church, walk through Kerr Hall, take the second bridge to the podium, and with the new bridge to the Student Learning Centre you can take the bridge over there and go down one floor
