Yonge Street was a major hooker/strip joint/drug/drinking/porn movie etc shady place back in the 1970's. When shoeshine boy Emanuel Jaques was sexually assaulted and murdered in one of the buildings near Dundas in 1977 the city decided to clamp down on the vice (though I'm sure the newly opened Eaton Centre had an influence on this).
Maybe a suspect comment/joke derailing the thread if the quality of the street someone is claiming they'll miss with the rise of this building hasn't actually been evident on the street for almost 40 years. Some memories die hard, I guess. Or come back strong in one's advancing years.

Bonus points go to the first Forumer to post shots of the setting sun hitting that blue soffit!

Quickly snapped this. Left side of the main "triangle" is filled with the blue soffit, and now they're working on the triangular bit on Gould and the lane way.

Definitely not shiny like the rendering depicted, but love it regardless. It's a very striking blue!
