Sounds like Peter Freed just bought this site:

@JShamess on twitter says

2 large redevelopment land sites closed this week: Freed buys site east of King Eddy for $19.2m ($77 BSF) and 1 Atlantic Ave to Minto $19.8m

@urban__dreamer Bit farther East Colborne & King 18,500 SF land piece maybe 20s some planning issues...

Wow 19.8 million bucks...1 Atlantic Ave, isnt that the old Upper Canada brewery site on the edge of the rail corridor.

A 20-30 floor, with podium component Freed/Core building would work well at this site. Looks like Freed has ambitious goals to expand and colonize other parts of the city (Y/Eg and King East to be the new Freed-ville's?)

Freed has now applied for, and received, a building permit for the sales centre - though no plans for the actual building have yet got to the City! - they appear to already be building the sales centre!

Application: Temporary Structures Status: Permit Issued

Location: 101 KING ST E
TORONTO ON

Ward 28: Toronto Centre-Rosedale

Application#: 11 292397 TPS 00 TS Issued Date: Oct 25, 2011

Project: Commercial Sales Pavilions

Description: Proposal to construct a 1 sty sales centre.

Was walking by the site yesterday and the lot at the corner of King and Church St. was fenced off with stacks of boards. Nice to see something getting started at this location, have always disliked seeing that parking lot at such an important location. Looking forward to seeing the proposal.

Yes, it will be interesting to see what their plans are but it seems a bit 'horse before the cart' to build a sales centre before any plans have got to the City.

^ Yeah. I think Freed will get 25 if he's lucky. Still, I'm excited about this! A guy like Freed investing east of Yonge is very positive, and could jump start another neighbourhood boom like he did in King West. This area definitely could use it more.
