I dunno, man. In Toronto, there's been nimbys in 80s condo towers complaining about new condo towers going up beside them. So never underestimate the cringeyness of these people, especially if they're in low-rise housing.
It will be fantastic when it is finally built. I walked past the empty field in December and noticed that the commercial space in the buildings behind it along Oak Park Boulevard have finally found tenants. I hope that there is enough foot traffic to keep them in business. The covered walk-space and narrow road makes that street quite walkable and appealing.Don't know when it happened but this project has been moved to the "recently approved" section on the Town of Oakville site.
