The problem here is Pemberton, who really could not give a hot damn what their project looks like clearly. This is literally picking from bargain basement materials and slapping it on.

The fact that they went with a zig-zagged floor design and then cheaped out with horrid cladding is just mystifying.

It's not so mystifying when it's likely done to pad their bottom line...while at the same time hinting sophistry because they went with "irregular" floor plates. /sigh

Did you just substitute Social for Boston City Hall? Also, La Tour Montparnasse is only ugly in the context of central Paris. There are far uglier buildings in the world, even in other parts of Paris. Heck, if it was located here in Toronto, it would probably be praised as a modernist landmark.

A few different choices in materials and finishes (and not necessarily more expensive choices) could have saved this.

(...or at least made it a "should have been better" as opposed to a "what a total blight on the city").
