For anyone that uses foursquare/Swam to check into locations Downsview Station has now been renamed to Sheppard West station a few weeks ahead of the TTC.

Doors Open Update per http://www.ttc.ca/Spadina/Project_News/News_Events/News_by_Date/2017/April/Doors_Open.jsp

1) A shuttle bus will be operated between the Sheppard West bus terminal, Downsview Park, and York U stations. Regular fares apply. Schedule unknown.

2) Free Parking is indeed in effect at York U for Doors Open for the TTC Station. It is available at the York Blvd lot, number 70 on this map http://maps.info.yorku.ca/files/2013/02/KEELE_Map_Colour.pdf presumably limited from about 10am-5pm on Saturday May 27th only.

The good news, is it's ripe for quick redevelopment. Unlike the Danforth, Bloor West, or the Beechwood Cemetery

Helps when there are no NIMBYs living in the area. They'll come after they move into the high-rise condos that will come.

^ NIMBYism is an inherently suburban, single family detached home thing though so there's nothing to worry about

And even if there is, the OMB could use all the high rise condos as precedent for any developer who wants to build densely but gets blocked by zoning.

Since the city has already approved towers in excess of 50 stories, I can't imagine the OMB having to weigh in on density issues in the foreseeable future.

But it's certainly true, as a general rule, that once people are there, they like to preserve things. I feel like there should still be less than that in a greenfield area where people are buying high rise condos near a subway...

Noooooo!!!!!

Why must capital letters take over lowercase letters in station names?

Downsview was unique for having lowercase lettering.

Now, it's no different from any other subway station when it comes to the use of capital letters.
