It's so difficult to tell how the balcony treatment will affect the overall look, but I am optimistic. For now, every little spot that isn't filled in with balcony yet, takes away from it.

The spots that aren't covered by a balcony don't take away from the overall look, they create the overall look. That look is a combination of objects and voids and the transitions between them. Without the voids and transitions, these towers would just be Casa IV and Casa V.

That's not what I was referring to, but perhaps I didn't explain it very clearly. I realize that there are parts without balconies altogether. I mean the unfinished sections of the actual balconies, where there will be balcony glass but at this point they just haven't installed it completely. I do actually prefer this overall look (once complete) to Casa simplicity.

The problem I'm already seeing is the grey bars that are between the balcony gaps. I'd like to imagine the balconies as a sort of high-tech layer wrapping itself around a square tower, but those grey bars are very distracting. There's almost always two between the wedges. At least it's consistent all the way up the building.

This tower's western profile is really nice, but the rest of the building is pretty humdrum (excellent quality materials and execution, however).

Visible from the Financial District; plus a little photo dump around the site:
