Some updates on the retail:

Harbour Eats by Mercatino went bankrupt during the pandemic and liquidated in early 21.
Bastille Flowers by Coppa's has been closed (unknown if permanent) and is basically unused
Market63 by Coppa's has closed off the Harbour St entrances and removed the checkouts near that entrance

I've been through this building many times since the announcement that The Second City was going to be moving here, but had yet to notice any movement on it at all. Afterall, their old building is gone now, yet it's still their address on their website. This was planned to be opened at the end of last year too.

So I went to check if the permits were filed, and it seems they've been cancelled? Are they deciding on somewhere else or is the company having some troubles... or am I misinterpreting what this means?

I've seen no announcements or anything so I hope maybe someone has some inside information to confirm anything.

And we are back... Glad I was wrong, venue space like this is a great cultural asset to the city. Seems the pandemic made them temporarily decide to be online only until the time was right. Was quite concerned when the permit seemed to be cancelled. Work on The Second City may finally begin soon as indicated in updated permits as of recent, long after it was to open in 2020... oh how times have changed. Hopefully the venues will be ready by the end of 2021.

Then, if you just cross the street, something appears between the two towers:

The homegrown answer to Whole Foods, in Toronto's burbs is Nature's Emporium.

After years of looking/planning, they are opening their first downtown Toronto outpost, in One York.

They are taking 25,000ft2 and will employ ~100 people.

Opening date TBD, but either late this year or early 2023.

Final note, this appears to be the first of many new stores coming from them.
