Wow it's only been 3 months since I was east of the Don. :p

6 December 2012: Not impressed. Has a very "cheap" feel that is typical of Streetcar & a very cold thrifty "public housing" look typical of TACT. I mean it's not ugly, but neither is it really pleasing to the eye. It fills space. Blah.

Palette clearly inspired by the wrong building on the street:

The thing that doesn't work here is the colour of the brick. It looks like plywood.

I'm going to beat you to the punch and say that red brick would have been pretty sharp here.

Random question but is the brick on Sync Lofts lighter than it's neighbour in the first shot because it's a new building and cleaner or because it is a slightly different shade of yellow?

that's difficult to say for sure. But the darkening of the brick over time is a certainty.

The neighbouring building is clay brick (i.e. real brick). This likely is concrete brick (i.e. fake brick). In time, the former develops a lovely patina while the latter just gets dirty.

I am now nervous re: Q Lofts. Looking at the Q Lofts rendering makes me realize it'll be very similar to this project. Same brick colour, same grey spandrel & ww upstairs; just rejigged massing boxes. Oh dear.
