Market Square is one of my favourite condo buildings in the city. It evokes the Haussmann block of Paris without seeming colonial, the courtyard plan is great, and they opened up views to St. James Cathedral to the north with an intimate pedestrian laneway.

The entire neighbourhood and the Market Square block are inseparable in my mind.

Well, we could redeem that tradition a bit by demolishing everything above the brick base of this building. I don't think I've ever seen a more capable base matched to a more hideous top.

Could have been great with such minor aesthetic fixes.

1) No beige pre-cast at bottom... they should have just continued with the brick.
2) The tower cladding should have been black.
