I'd love to a couple like this around Bathurst & St Clair and Yonge & Eglinton.
89 Avenue Road is nice, but lacks the flair of this proposal.
Im concerned the shingles will be the cheap tar paper. I hope not.

In theory, I quite like the (current) design of the above.
But.... I have to say, I think it will look contextually odd even if they pull it off; there's really nothing nearby of that style or period, historically or contemporary.
My other thought, however, is that I've seen designs like this before, and when executed, it all falls apart terribly due to cheap finishes and poor detailing.
Much of urban Ontario lacks for grand towers from the Deco period; and I don't mind the idea of delivering some belatedly.
But doing so poorly or in a context where they end up giving off a Disney'esque oddball vibe appeals much less.

It's no longer a chateau-esque design, it's now a Beaux Arts inspired Wengle design.
