It's not the flight paths - it's the city hall view corridor that blocks anything of significant height behind city hall. 700 Bay, across the street from this one, had a hell of a time getting anything approved because of it.

lol...
Is that to protect the view OF city hall or the view FROM city hall?

It's to protect the view of City Hall from the south end of Nathan Phillips Square, with nothing popping out above it.

hmmm... very interesting! at least the rule makes some sense for the public enjoyment of the city... but does Aura not pop out? or is it sufficiently far away?

It's further to the east, so off to the side comparatively.

Not much of a view from City Hall looking north. No windows.

Biked past this today along Gerrard. The canopy along Gerrard towards Bay (it's a smaller version of the extruded black frame that makes up most of the podium) is so low it sits just above the retail doors and has the visual effect of looking like a tall person could smack their head into it while walking along the sidewalk. It has to rank as the most odd street condition I have ever seen during this building boom; if our planners are so concerned about streetscape design, then I have no idea why that was permitted; even more puzzled as to why IBI's team designed it that way.

You can see it in the first photo of the post above. It's really quite something in person o_O

This building walks the fine line of creative design without being too articulated. It's really nice done, I think.

Snippet from above link:

“Livmore, which has been open for rentals for about 45 days, is already more than 20 percent full, beating its Sept. 1 schedule, when the first phase of occupancy is slated. Rents for studios have jumped to about C$1,889 per month from C$1,600 while one-bedrooms are fetching C$2,300, said Nishimura. The priciest units are two-story, three-bedroom suites that go for C$10,000 a month”
