oh cool. i had no idea what it was... just curious why it was left there... is it just an accumulation of what they were shoveling?
It's because of how they are removing dirt from the site. The backhoes in the pit pile it on top of that little mound, then the backhoe at ground level picks it up and loads it into trucks.

Taken today....some shots around 11 am, the rest ~ 5 pm.

New corner diagonal bracing down below...

Almost every time I walk by here there's a guy sweeping on this catwalk. A clean work place is a tidy, safe work place.

1 floor to go...
Question: where are those much talked about "super columns"? Are they buried deep underground and be revealed with the next level of excavation?

Question: where are those much talked about "super columns"? Are they buried deep underground and be revealed with the next level of excavation?

I don't remember seeing them drill them or pour concrete for them...

They've already drilled the caissons that support the super columns. When they get to the lowest floor level they will then dig for a caisson cap that will tie the caissons together.

The super columns will then start to be formed from the caisson cap.

does anyone knows when crane goes up and how many? thank you...

I would assume we'll see the foundations for a crane when they get down to the bottom-most floor (which we're one level away from). I can't imagine them fitting in more than one crane on this site. Perhaps a second will pop up as they clear the temporary staging area....

Wow... the city's tallest tower on a tiny tiny site. This thing is going to be toothpick thin when viewed against the towers around it.

If the tower's footprint is a perfect square (not counting the podium annexes) as it appears to be, and if the tower only goes up to the building retained on site, then this is what it'll look like. Compare that to the other towers around it and you can see how slender it'll be in context.

The tower floor plates here are actually bigger than 1BE's tower floor plates
