This project has been cancelled due to poor sales apparently. Hopefully another developer (Freed? He's been active along Dupont) can develop this parcel of land.
 
This project failed to sell so apparently it was scrapped. Nevertheless, there are folks who have seems machines rolling around the site recently. Any news? Site sold to another developer?
 
Not that I want this anachronistic pile to go ahead (I don't), but there were several articles claiming a construction start due to sufficient sales. Were they incorrect / in error / lying?
 
Apparently Dunpar scrapped the project. I believe though that the project changed hands privately very recently.
 
Fwiw there is some foundation type work in place along with machinery. However, construction has noticeably stopped.

YOU are building CRAP.
even though I like the design in the links you provided, some people do not like all that glass and you can see everything inside. Mind you, I am sure drapes will be put up, but maybe not by some. Some do like more traditional looking designs vs more contemporary. Some of this modern built-form, especially if designed the same inside can be very cold. Though I love contemporary design I would only be able to have it in my kitchen and bath. I would need to have traditional elements elsewhere and certainly not all those geomateric type windows leading to upper levels and modern staircases. Its just too much modern for me anyways. Perhaps these developers are obviously playing it safe trying to reach wider market. Afterall, you can always have the inside be more contemp with kitchen and bath
 
My problem with these townhouses is the exterior, because that is the part I'll have to look at.

More specifically, my problem is that they represent a very superficial, yet predictable, attempt to look "traditional" while absolutely nothing about them is, in fact, traditional. Like so many builder-driven projects, they have wonky proportions, phony details, and are constructed with the contemporary balloon-framing techniques. They'll likely be finished in cheap, builder-basic materials, like engineered stone veneer.

They'll be passable on this stretch of Ossington, but in an old neighbourhood they really stand out - and not for the right reasons ... They bring to mind a man with a bad haircut, cheap cologne and an ill-fitting polyester suit, trying to blend in with a group well-groomed old men in tailored aquascutum.

I like traditional architecture. I like old buildings. I even like new buildings that are built in a traditional style IF and only IF - they are detailed with integrity and built with quality materials. This project is neither and it's always disappointing to see this kind of thing being built in the city rather than something authentic and original.
 
Construction progress as of today. It looks like they are only building on a quarter of the land though. Maybe not enough units sold?

Some progress - today.
Not a fan of the architecture but at least it's somewhat dense, and the bricks look pretty good (aka genuine, not precast). Four blocks are up, and there seems to be one last to be constructed at the back, so 60 homes total (12x5)?

The look is pure Dunpar. Looking forward to the added density here. Hoping St Clair West retail will see some influx (especially Corso). Dovercourt and Davenport Village will really benefit here.
