There were problems with other parts of the site: along Howard Park for example. It was not simply the height that people objected to. The developer was willing to finally make some concessions. That's how they got the 8-storey. Most properties along Roncesvalles can't support an 8-story tower. The lot depth is not that deep. If you want to kill the small businesses, then you allow towers. It drives up the value, property taxes and that shows up in the rent. It's why lots of businesses have moved off Queen.
