For those that complain about the lack of transit progress in Toronto the first plans for a Yonge subway were rejected in 1912! It only took 42 years for the subway to finally arrive.

So faster than the Queen Line. Or the Sheppeard East LRT at this rate ...

Indeed, it looks like almost the entirety of both the concourse and the University platform are done.

At concourse level, only one of the turnstiles, I believe, on the RBC path side has a Presto reader, I'd imagine they'll put more in. On the east end there's a small fenced off doorway just beside the (notably non-Presto) automatic entrance, not sure what's going on there. Would be nice to see something happen with the west side to give an easy, direct connection to the York concourse...not sure if that's planned or not. For all intents and purposes concourse is 100% done, from what I could see.

The platform is basically complete, tons of space, looking great, elevator working, etc. Only notable thing before they can say it's 100% complete is the escalators and those looked 90% ready to go live.

Really impressed with the speed and quality of the work in the past month, especially given the relatively few closures at the station over the weekends...indeed, it seems a lot of these finishing touches were done overnight or even during service hours behind barriers. Union should be, whether effectively or officially, 100% done as of Monday.

There's still a fair amount of tile work that needs to be done on the floors on the University side. It is starting to look great though.

To be correct, The 1910 Mayor rejected the approved votes of the citizens and refused to hear or talked about it at council while he was in office. That makes it 44 years.

In fact it goes back to 1906 when a P3 was going to built it only to be told they only have control of it until the 1920's and they walked away.

The PanAm deadline is forcing certain projects to be much more efficient. Threats, penalties, etc. I bet.
The rush of the Games also made others less so. e.g. the West Don Lands site was supposed to be heated/cooled by 'district heating' and most of the pipes were laid but it was decided there was no time to build the actual plants so the buildings are now all hooked up to Hydro and gas for heating - and have, at least in some cases, 'empty' district heating pipes.

Yeah and we lost the Steven Holl designed DE centre in the process too. Drats :/

The old centre platform is starting to look a lot like the new one. It's a little cramped in some sections, kinda like St George station. However the stairs are much better now.

Apparently, the renovation caused the old platform to be curved (or was it curved earlier and did not notice it).
