This building is not as bad as the comments on it show. It's definitely better than "Pantages" next door.
I can surely live with this project any day over all those CASA clones on Charles Street.
Quality is first and foremost to me. Variety is much lower on the list. I'd be happier if this was another Casa clone over the current spandrel glass clone.
Pantages is decent, the curves and lines are effective. Though it could use some refinement, I always thought it added nicely in its location. This building? Bleh. What is that faded salmon colour doing anywhere on the exterior?
I agree I like the massing I think it works with the heritage component. Not the best but it doesn't bother me.
I dunno my comparison to pantages it really just proximity related, pantages' curved facade is nice but I hate it's lack of colour or contrast. I actually prefer what people seem to think is a "salmon pink". I also appreciate that the crown is not flat and that the "grey" is actually a brown.
I personally don't mind the use of spandrel and precast here ... and I do like the massing of this project ... however I'm just disappointed in the colours selected for the spandrel and precast itself, which could have been better paired to work together a lot better instead
At this point, in reference to previous comments on this thread (which I full-heartedly agree with) and in honour of a Seinfeld staple, I'm just calling this the Pigman Tower/Residences. Anyways,
