Hoping they plan to put a significant number of mature trees on the Bloor St side. Green foliage against black spandrel and window framing would look very sharp and create an elegant Bloor St east entrance to the downtown.
Sweet shots lightarchitect... particularly the first one with the "Veil" invading the right side of the frame (very night-time appropriate given your UT handle ).
I think if the Selby didn't have that cutout area, it would look incredible. I love the inset minimalist balconies, the square proportions, the brick. The cutout is just out of place IMO. An unnecessary stylistic touch that brings the building down unfortunately.
