The center of the mall is a big open space. I wonder if it would be better to just scrap everything there and make it a cultural hub. Put a stage there or something and host events, festivals, musicians, artistic showpieces and whatever else that can be thought of.

Make the mall itself a destination for reasons besides shopping, because it is a total flop as a destination shopping mall for the reasons outlined in your post and mine.

I'm very suprised riocan spent the money they did redo'ing the interior, I'm curious if they expect to get any return on the invested capital through higher rental rates ? I don't think so, still quite a few spaces for lease now that its all done.

The Winners opened today. It is so small. Just one floor.

Men's and Women's clothing only. No kitchen or housewares. No kids stuff from what I could tell.

I am going to make this a rare two-part post to make this easier on everyone's computers/devices

Took a walk around and through the mall today to check out the changes.

Disjointed is the word that comes to mind.

I will have to make the trip and see it for myself.

Does anyone know what's going in on the 3rd floor and ground floor of the cube?

I hear Joe Fresh

The top floor of the cube will be new VIP auditoriums for the Cineplex. Once those open, the cinemas at Canada Square will close apparently.

Oh no! So I guess Joe Fresh on the ground floor, Cineplex on top floor.

Off topic but I wonder what will happen to the old Canada Square Cinemas.

I can see that entire corner be redeveloped after the Crosstown opens.

Probably the first time I've seen vertical wall lights at a subway entrance,..... probably get damage easily and often,... sticking out of the wall like that,... looks pretty, but doesn't look right at a high pedestrian traffic area like a subway entrance,...

What are those silver-chrome rectangular wall plate things at the end of each step???? Do they contain some kind of sensors or lights?

BTW, the new subway entrance at EmeraldPark will look similar to this one in that there's an elevator with stairs going around it,... how long did it take them to put in the tiles? ;p (apparently, tiles, floors, lighting, trims,.... that's basically all they have to do at EmeraldPark subway entrance but they won't be finish until Feb 2016)

Still, a great tenant for the Centre, hopefully more quality retail to come.

Is the old subway entrance (the one with stairs that goes down to the food court) replaced by that new one, or is it just being re-built?
