To be honest, the Mississauga Extension of line 2 would be great because it would link up to the Hurontario LRT, connecting the GTA on a whole new level.

A Line 2 extension to reach the Hurontario LRT would parallel the Milton GO Train. They are already rebuilding the COOKSVILLE GO Station, which would be a transfer point for the Hurontario LRT. From link. (Can you say "discount transfer fares"?)

Unless at Kipling there were to be a Dundas LRT and a Queen LRT that follows the rail line to Sherway and continues on Queen in Mississauga. Perhaps throw in a Kipling to airport and Humber College LRT there as well.

Yes. Ford is overbuilding the Eglinton West line, it does not need to be tunneled if it only goes to Pearson.

But if the tunnel is used for two branches: one to Pearson and another into Mississauga, then it can become somewhat more justifiable.

Couldn't the existing Transitway be converted to LRT?

West Mall, Sherway... and potentially Dixie GO are the end of the line for Line 2 forever I believe. Any further and it's simply feeding the "we get subways too" mentality instead of actually placing the highest of higher-order transit where it makes sense.

If line 2 does get extended, I don't think it'll be any time soon. There are so many other higher priority projects, not to mention that brand new bus terminal they just built at Kipling.
