Riocan will set rental rates this summer as Pivot is not due to open until Fall. They will be watching vacancy rates and rent values in the city (currently at a low 1% vacancy) before they set their rates. Pivot built small, condo sized units with 1 bedrooms under 500 sq. ft. In comparison, the adjoining Forest Laneway 1 bedrooms are about 800 sq. ft. FLW has raised rents 3 times in 12 months due to demand. Current rates are 1 bdrm.- $1625., 2 bdrm. - $1945., 3 bdrm. - $2450. plus parking at $135 per month.
 
Dollarama will soon be moving from their current 6,745 sq. ft. store to a 14,934 sq. ft. location near What a bagel with convenient entrance next to Shoppers Drug Mart. Moving into their old spot will be DSW, (Designer Shoe Warehouse); brand names at discount prices.

Good to see even more non-restaurant options coming in (DSW), as a variety of shops is important in creating a place that people travel to repeatedly and spend time in. I've been noticing lately how the mall is consistently populated and with a diverse mix of people. It seems like a healthy mix of local residents and subway commuters who aren't merely passing through on the way to the exit.

It's interesting, that new building looks great, but the style is such that it could have been a 60s/70s apartment building with a reskin.
Wonder if that was by design or not.
 
Exterior finishes being applied; white metal panels around the base, rectangular concrete patio tiles form the floor, pergolas and flower beds. Looks like they're on schedule for a late summer-fall opening. No rent costs established yet as Riocan continues to monitor a changing rental market.

I like the look of Pivot -- anyone have an idea what the sq/ft sizes for the 2-3 bedrooms will be? I assume very small, but just curious as details and floorplans are slow to emerge.
 
I can't believe they didn't add direct access to the mall like the 3 Forest Laneway towers. Just looking into these units they seem to be very small, but I too would like to see the floorplans. Completion has been very slow here, perhaps a pandemic effect. A nice looking addition to the area.

There's direct access to mall - on both mall levels. Ok,... more like indirect access,.... directly east of Winners and Food Court are already existing corridors mainly for loading - utilize that to access Moving Area-Elevators or stairs to apartment lobby/elevators. Also, mall and apartment share underground parking levels.
