From the last 4 photos,.... That purple & pink hue lighting on the ceiling make the place look cheap,.... like a cheap casino 0r strip joint.

But if it glowed different colours for different occasions that would be cool,....

Reminds me of cheesy neon underglow on cars.

Don't get the empty space across from Rockport between Loft and Fairweather. It used to be a mall entrance and thought they would convert that into retail but nothing yet as of Sunday.

So, this round of openings from the 18th to the 21st means 18 new stores as of now, with some new spaces still to open, and some old ones to be reopened with new retailers as a number of stores have moved with the mall. We have a front page story on that coming shortly, but first, here's a pile of what's going on outside.

Restoration Hardware to replace part of Sears:

There will be other retailers in this extension to the mall…

…but there's no room for Simons in this expansion. I'd be wiling to bet that they would be part of the next expansion, which might bring a hall from the Restoration Hardware wing down to and extension of the south hall seen below, you know, the one that the Apple Store anchors:

I dunno, I miss the old facade of the Bay. Its appeal was being an impenetrable, mysterious concrete monolith. The makeover kills that magic.

Went to Yorkdale today. I came from 401 West. Originally I tried to enter the mall through the main entrance near The Bay. Then I did a U-turn and entered through the dufferin entrance near the Microsoft store. Then I circled around for about 20 minutes to find parking. I was driving a 15 passenger van so it is hard to move around and it was lunch time. But I go to Yorkdale at least twice a week upwards to 5 times for various reasons, shopping, movies, rogers store, clothing stitches, restaurants, etc. Although I am quite familiar with the mall it felt noticeably busier today (Sunday) and am having a hard time imagining what it will look like at Christmas. As for Dufferin, which I fully support the new condo development, it is going to be insanely busy especially on the weekends. The Holiday Inn condos will sell out instantly. The only problem here is this is the exact part of dufferin which has the most traffic. I just kept on thinking there needs to be some sort of ROW transit a decade from now. That being said I loved the extension (been there three times since it opened) but I still don't understand why people would line up for Canada Goose when there are a number of other places that sell the exact same thing if not the internet. But people still line up for iphones,so what do I know.

Hi, I am genuinely curious about the light hues in the mall corridors and how they are cheesy/tacky? They are a nice subtle touch (they are not cheap and fluorescent-like) and they are a nice pop so how is this light effect cheesy/tacky? If there was no color pop, people would say tge corridors are too plain and boring with no flair so I guess I am curious as to what people would rather see here?
