Walked 102 Avenue today from Manulife to 97st.

One pole for pedestrian lighting on the sidewalk

One pole for street lighting, unsure if temporary or permanent, but looked permanent

One pole for catenary

All within 6-10'.

Am I missing something here?

@IanO took me a hot second to figure out what you were even saying haha! That is.. a lot. Why couldn't they condense the street light and cantenary pole together, like on other stretches along the line? Or maybe the other streetlight is temporary I dunno man

@The_Cat Thanks for the pics and info! Could you tell what kind of signals they are? I'm curious if they are the normal Red-Yellow-Green or those new "White bar" ones that ION uses.

@Platinum107, I saw two lights (per signal) at 28 Ave/66 Street. I'm not entirely sure, but I imagine they're the same signals as the ION (Waterloo) signals. For the three signals (shown in the picture). I imagine one's for the switchtrack.

If the train signal installation is complete south of Whitemud, I imagine train testing isn't too far away.

They've already been testing on a stretch near the Gerry Wright OMF since last winter. Hopefully the test range gets expanded soon.

Here are some pics I took at Bonnie Doon and Avenmore stops yesterday. A security guard at Bonnie Doon tailed me while I was at the Bonnie Doon stop, and talked with me at one point. He didn't seem to understand why someone would be taking pictures of an under-construction train stop at night lol.

@CplKlinger Nice pics! Yeah haha, it's never happened to me personally but I've seen more than a few railfanning vids online where the people documenting the trains, stations. etc. were given strange looks and/or told to leave by security or, even worse, yelled at by randos thinking that they were filming them specifically (for some reason). I think most people don't really get having an interest in just watching trains go by or riding the train just for enjoyment of it, and don't see how groups like us can spend so much time talking about and looking at photos and videos of construction projects, but I guess that's how it is I know for me, looking at these things getting built over years and then finally seeing the end product (or using it in this case) within our city gives me this nice, warm feeling of contentment that's hard to replicate elsewhere.
