I think you're right, though I do hope they provide some kind of pedestrian/cycling bridge there because though it's not far for a car to detour to Fort Rd or 50th, it's a heck of a long way for someone on foot.
It's called the 118 St interchange now?

That first one looks like a huge waste of unnecessary roadway.I noticed something interesting. In the plan, they show turning 124 Avenue into a cul-de-sac and cutting off access to 124 Street.

But in the recent Prince Charles Bulletin, they show 124 Avenue and Street connected.

Considering that Google Earth (from September 2025) shows the plan to connect 124 Avenue with 121 Street, I wonder if there'll be two ways to access such place.

Playing devil's advocate, it's likely because 124 Ave serves the impound lot. Cutting off access from Yellowhead Trail would mean that impounded cars (with the tow trucks carrying them!) will have to go through the Prince Charles neighbourhood, and well, there's a reason why they blocked the 124 St access from Prince Charles to the Yellowhead Trail. That first one looks like a huge waste of unnecessary roadway.
It eats up lots of the impound lot too, and in a recent article, the city mentioned that it needs to expand it because there’s no room to tow abandoned vehicles. That first one looks like a huge waste of unnecessary roadway.
