A 'vertical city' has risen above the lively streets of Singapore as construction on The Scotts Tower nears exterior completion. The 31-storey, 153-metre tower built by Far East Organization contains 231 units of one- to three-bedroom apartments topped off by four-bedroom penthouses.

UN Studio's vertical city concept is expressed in three volumes: the "city", the "neighbourhood," and the "home." Each of these elements are connected with a "vertical frame" and "sky frames." The tower's vertical frame is broken down into four residential clusters which are then divided into different neighbourhoods. Each cluster is marked by balcony variations and an altered glass tint.

The first 16-floor cluster is where the 128 "City Loft" residences are located. Measuring 669 square feet, these compact units share floor plates alongside some of the 80 "City View" units, which stretch above to form a second cluster. Sizing in at 887 square feet, the units are targeted towards urban professionals. Five floors of 20 "Park View" units provide larger family-sized living quarters of 1,315 square feet. Finally, three penthouses gracefully top the building, with each unit on the highest floor offering views of the Singapore cityscape. The 2,854-square-foot suites comes equipped with a private terrace and enough room for a pool.

The amenity areas are allocated to the sky frames, which are positioned at the lobby and 25th floor. These gaping voids are where sweeping gardens, swimming pools, and barbecue lounges will be housed. Landscaping and water features at the base of the tower act as a natural extension to nearby greenery. Extensive neighbourhood amenities are also within arm's reach. The Orchard Road luxury shopping district, which underwent a streetscape revamp in 2009, is located just steps away.

The building is now topped out and glass has been installed on the majority of the tower. Additional images and information can be found in the Database file linked below.
