A quartet of developers is hoping their two-tower Los Angeles development will fit right into the existing built form and ambience established by the Staples Center and the L.A. Live entertainment complex. Located just opposite these cultural landmarks, 1200 Figueroa Street is currently an active construction site that will see the Harley Ellis Devereaux-designed Circa come to life.
Hankey Investment Company, Jamison Services, Falcon California Investments, and Highlands Capital are the development partners in the project. The two 35-storey towers will house 648 luxury rental units ranging in size from 700 to 3,800 square feet. The building's street presence is solidified by a hefty podium encompassing 48,000 square feet of retail. Along Flower Street, a 400-square-foot courtyard will be provided, while a 1,000-square-foot plaza marks the 12th Street frontage.
The top of the podium will serve as the amenities deck, with a swimming pool, barbecue area, and fitness centre available to residents. An additional amenity space known as the Club House will feature an indoor bar, pool table, multiple television screens, and an outdoor dining area.
Circa's position within a dedicated sign district prescribes the implementation of bold and bright signage, which the complex appears to have in abundance. Construction of the podium is progressing steadily, to be followed by the pair of glass elliptical towers that should be ready for occupancy in 2017.
