In the six months since our last update, progress has moved along significantly at the site of the Robert A.M. Stern Architects-designed 520 Park Avenue. The 54-storey luxury condo tower is currently on the rise alongside the southeastern tip of Central Park, and will soon become a stunning addition to the Manhattan skyline. While our first story showed the tower about a dozen floors above grade with its distinctive limestone cladding yet to grace the exterior, the most recent images on our Forum reveal a soaring skyscraper-to-be, its unique exterior today visible for all to see.
Developed jointly via a partnership between Zeckendorf Realty, Park Sixty, and Global Holdings Inc, 520 Park Avenue will be a standout project. Its use of high-quality materials such as Indiana Limestone and marble will provide the tower with a classic style which will do much towards connecting the new development with its surrounding urban context.
Inspired by the local architecture of the traditionally tony Upper East Side, the 54-storey luxury tower will feature just 33 units, at an average size of one entire floor per unit. The multi-storey penthouse suites are expected to sell well into the $100 million range, thus giving one an idea about the price of even the most modest suites on offer in what will soon become one of the most exclusive addresses in New York.
Set for completion in 2017, 520 Park Avenue has already become a fixture of the local skyline, joining nearby landmarks such as the Sherry Netherland, The Pierre, and 770 Park Avenue to remake the image of the Upper East Side into one of elegant modernity.
Once complete, 520 Park Avenue will be a welcome addition to the Manhattan skyline, part of the ongoing evolution of America's largest densest city.
SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
