In the seven months since our last update, progress has been moving steadily at the site of Bosa Development's Kohn Pederson Fox Associates-designed Pacific Gate. The 41-storey residential tower is soon to top off, its signature glass-wrapped exterior now reaching more than halfway up the tower. With several months yet to go before completion, the tower has already become a fixture on the San Diego skyline.
Within walking distance of the harbour and marina, Pacific Gate will place residents within close proximity of many of San Diego's best-known attractions and neighbourhoods. The tower itself will soon become an iconic piece of the local cityscape, with a crown that terminates in an arrangement that can be described as two sheets of glass rolled elegantly one over the other.
With an elegant entryway and interior amenity spaces that harken back to 1960s West Coast Modernism, the entire aesthetic of the new tower is one which evokes an architectural character seemingly belonging to a bygone era. The materiality and resultant tonal quality exude modernity and a sophisticated sense of style.
Once complete, Pacific Gate will be a welcome addition to the San Diego waterfront. At 41 storeys, the tower will also be one of San Diego's tallest residential towers.
SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
