Seven months after last checking in at the site of Tour Saint-Gobain in Paris' La Défense, construction has been moving along nicely, the 38-storey office tower having now reached approximately 3/4 of its final 165-metre height. Set to become the new headquarters for construction material manufacturer Saint-Gobain, the tower will join a collection of related high-rise developments in the area.

Designed by Valode & Pistre Architects for Generali Group and Hines, the tower's signature lattice work appliqué has provided the otherwise geometric glass curtain wall with a significant amount of added visual interest - a virtual necessity given the project's location within the heart of the design-heavy La Défense.

Further adding to the project's eccentric flair, the top of the tower will be capped with a multi-storey glass cube, which will be host to an impressive, vegetation-filled rooftop amenity space/observation deck.

The base of the tower will meet the street with a large concrete staircase and forecourt, which will be made accessible to the street below via the installation of two separate elevators.

Slated for completion by mid-2019, Tour Saint-Gobain will be home to 2,200 employees, the injection of more than two thousand office workers and support staff to the area to add a great deal of pedestrian life to the local streetscape.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
