More than six months since our last update, and progress at the site of the $1 billion high-rise trio known as the Jewel Towers has been moving along well, the 48-, 41-, and 35-storey towers now very close to topping off. A joint project between two of China's largest developers - Dalian Wanda Group and Ridong Group - the crystalline trio that comprise the Jewel Towers will bring 512 luxury residences and a five-star hotel to Australia's Gold Coast.

Located in Broadbeach, just south of Brisbane, the Jewel Towers will be a sizeable addition to the Gold Coast skyline. Tied together via a shared podium, the three-tower development will place residents almost directly onto the beach, the short distance to be filled by a series of outdoor swimming pools.

The tallest (middle) tower will become the 171-room Wanda Vista Hotel, while the two shorter towers will each be comprised of a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom residential units. International design competition winners DBI Design and Oppenheim Architecture + Design have put their architectural stamp upon the project, the signature crystalline massing of the towers having been selected as a tribute to the area's unique geological properties.

Set for completion in 2019, Jewel Towers will be a welcome addition to the Gold Coast, part of the area's ongoing intensification and redevelopment.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
