The Battle for Brookyln was awesome. Basically, if you live in New York state and own private property, be very worried. Expropriation used to be justified for public works projects (i.e. subways, highways, watermains, etc). However, it now includes "tax and community benefits." In other words, if an NBA owner says "hey, let's build a stadium there," the law will say "ok, how high?" despite the city and neighbourhoods best interests.
Tomorrow's screening of "Limelight" about Peter Gaiten will also likely include some urban-stuff, including warehouse gentrification and Giuliani's New York.
