i'm back from my giant summer vacation. i'm still working on my hong kong photos, so the series will likely resume next week. in the meantime, though, i have macau to share with you.

located just one hour away from hong kong by high-speed ferry, macau is a tiny former portuguese colony home to less than 500,000 people. consisting of a peninsula and two islands (technically one island now that they've been connected by landfill), macau sits adjacent to zhuhai, a city of more than one million. unlike hong kong and shenzhen, there's no rural space between them, but there's still a border to cross.

I thought I had great Macau photos, but your photos beat mine by a mile... good stuff!

How was your trip to the Macau Tower???

Great pics... definitely looks like a place worth checking out.

wylie, the macau tower was nice -- but relatively quiet. we went as soon as we got off the ferry and ate in the revolving restaurant. definitely a few steps above the usual stuck-in-the-70s ones, with a decent buffet that made up for the average quality of the food with an impressive selection.

the views are stunning but also a bit out of whack since the tower is so much taller than anything around it. it would be tall for most major cities, let alone macau.
