It is great to finally see the progress on the Thunderdome. Having seen it in person I remain stunned at how colossal the structure is.

It is of course not terribly useful unless and until its partner tunnel a quarter mile further south is in place, as well as the approaches to the bridge another quarter mile south, and a permanent bridge at the forks to sew the whole sequence up.

But moreso, all this (fabulous, please do not get me wrong) effort is only to connect to Bermondsey and maybe the Hydro lands.

The missing link is from the lower East Don to the fabulous section that has been built in the upper East Don. We can only hope that whatever becomes of the redevelopment of the Flemingdon golf course includes such a link.

I was by the Thunderdome today, it looked like the bridge is up on the north side over the rail corridor. Because I came at it via the south and there were a lot of construction personnel I couldn't get a good photo, but nice to see some progress! Also, the tunnel segments have been sitting down near the south end of the trail for a while now but no sign of movement. Will get a few photos on my next ride.

….as I told your screener….
Welcome! Looking forward to more pictures of the bridge/trail.
@TorontoBoris posted this today in another thread.

The bridge span is on site at the Bermondsey railway overpass.

They've yet to set up the approaches to the bridge just north of the tunnel segments... Also is it just me or do those concrete segments seem too big from the bridge... Are you putting in another construction bridge again?

The bridge above was being lifted into place this morning. I wasn't there, so no video / pics from me, but should be finished by now.

* Edit * Can confirm bridge is now fixed in place.

I am told (fingers crossed) the tunnel is currently scheduled for September.

It's in place? It's time to make a trek down again and document it.

Maybe you and Huey could go halfsies on this:

🤣 You a funny guy....

Joking aside @TorontoBoris, wait a few months until DJI releases their next model - Mini 5 Pro (my speculation) - and you'll see some of us drone junkies unloading our Mini 3 and 4 Pro's. :)
