HK 2.2
JORDAN
jordan is the neighbourhood centred around jordan road and the jordan MTR station, in the heart of kowloon. it's actually part of yau ma tei, which i covered earlier in 1.2. it's loud, busy and congested, but i love it. we stayed at the far end of jordan road for the second week of our trip, so we passed through here a lot on the way to and from home.
there are lots of "massage" parlours and "karaoke" bars in jordan and yau ma tei. this particular sign advertises the "full package" for just HK$390 (that's a measly $60 canadian). let your imaginations run wild.
at the western end of jordan road is west kowloon, a large patch of reclaimed land, most of which has yet to be developed.
NORTH POINT
north point is on hong kong island, a few neighbourhoods east of causeway bay. it's something of a transportation hub, with a ferry terminal, a trolley loop and an MTR station.
after a quick and cheap ride across the harbour, you emerge into a small ferry terminal that contains -- what else? -- a fish market.
and lots of old people.
the trolley loop has evolved into a neighbourhood wet market.
it was 35C out. this laundry probably took two seconds to dry.
SHEUNG WAN
located in the western part of hong kong island, sheung wan is slowly being overtaken by central's office buildings and luxury condo developments. it can be a surprisingly tranquil neighbourhood, though, especially around the antique shops of hollywood road.
30+ heat can get to you, but it's nothing a bout of air conditioning and a cold chinese dessert soup can't fix.
SNACK TIME
i had so much wonderful food in hong kong yet so few photos to show for it. most of the time i was too tired of taking photos outside to bother snapping shots of what was on my plate, so think of this as a midnight snack rather than a three-course meal.
