Joining the growing ranks of luxury hotel chains in Miami, Hilton's Curio Collection will anchor the mixed-use Triptych Miami Design District by HES Group. The Curio brand derives its name from "curiosity," emphasizing the relationship between the traveller and the local culture that they wish to explore. Florida is currently represented by the Vintro Hotel South Beach in Miami Beach and the Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, two of 24 properties under the Curio banner.

The 530,000-square-foot project at the meeting of Midtown Miami, Wynwood, and the Design District sews together the three vibrant neighbourhoods with a 20-storey tower and a massive podium. The complex of three geometric volumes will contain 296 hotel rooms, 40,000 square feet of meeting space, and multiple food and beverage venues. A sky lobby with a pool deck, a bar-equipped rooftop terrace, and a fitness centre will keep guests busy when they return from their sightseeing trips.

A gallery space accessible to both visitors and locals complements the two floors of retail that aim to enhance the streetscape. Between floors three and six, offices in shared concept style will provide progressive companies with a modern workspace. In what's becoming a more popular feature in new building projects around the world, a mechanical parking system holding 400 vehicles stresses efficiency. The project is designed by Bermello Ajamil & Partners, whose vision of a tower with pink, purple, and green colour splashes should definitely add visual interest to the neighbourhood.

HES Group is a Venezuelan hotel development firm which recently opened its first American corporate headquarters in the arts-focused Wynwood area of Miami. The property is currently delineated by fencing bearing the colourful branding of the project. Since the developer hopes to open Triptych during the 2017-2018 high season, there should be some movement on the site in the coming weeks.
