Following a recent redesign, current plans from developer Florida East Coast Realty and architect Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates for One Bayfront Plaza call for the construction of a supertall 1,049-foot/320-metre, 92-storey, mixed-use tower that will dramatically redefine the Miami skyline.

Set to replace a 1950s-era Modernist office block, One Bayfront Plaza will bring 1,052 apartments, 200 hotel rooms, 532,000 square feet of office space, 200,000 square feet of retail, and more than 1,000 parking spaces to 100 South Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami. Centrally located and close to transit, the waterfront-adjacent development will provide residents and guests alike with breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding skyline, while offering first-class shopping and dining options for all.

Tied with The Towers by Foster + Partners at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive, One Bayfront Plaza will soon become one of the two tallest towers in Florida. The design features a smooth curvaceous glass exterior, with one facade coming to a point reminiscent of a boat at ground level, while the other facade is scalloped out to make way for a series of rooftop terraces and green roofs.

At ground level, the podium will provide a welcoming presence to the local streetscape, with retail frontage and pedestrian access to wrap around the base of the structure. Well lit and augmented by the addition of an awning and improved pedestrian streetscape, the massive commercial space has yet to announce any tenants. Given the tower's prime location, it would not be surprising to see the space filled by a host of top-tier retail and dining options.

Once complete, One Bayfront Plaza will be a welcome addition to the Miami skyline while the downtown waterfront district will benefit from the influx of new residents, guests, and workers.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free join the conversation in the comments section below.
