Added the pictures from my phone [taken on my phone]; that was easy. Then had to add the text as an edit from my laptop. I'll get the hang of it yet.

Anyways, I'm at Yonge and Empress this evening.

Description of the pics below:

The picture of the old fire hall is inside the Empress Walk mall.

The preserved 'hose tower' is behind the mall; walk in off Yonge street and out the back of the mall; and there it is.

The Yonge street side of the mall; where the Fire Hall used to be.

Historical plaque.

Stay safe UT-ers. Thank you for looking.

Thanks, Mustapha, for revealing that bit of Yonge St. history of which many of us were unaware.
I often attended monthly meetings (cancelled for the last 6 months) in the NY Library, just across Yonge from that site.
When I'm able to return, I'll certainly visit that interesting memorial.

I grew up near there and recall there were three buildings, perhaps not directly in a row but very close to each other on the east side of Yonge, all of the same general architecture; the fire hall, police station (assuming NY Twp then Metro 32 Div) and another, perhaps at one time the township municipal offices.

If it "looks older", it's because it's unadorned concrete block of a sort. The brick's for show.
