Which 13 thou?Has there been any news about the other metrolink f59s since they been at north bay for awhile now.
The press release says both - "These 13 additional locomotives will be used to provide GO Transit with operational support and spare parts."Let's see whether all of them actually see refurbishment. Some may be simply for parts.
Looking at CPTDB wiki, it's hard to say. 874-887 are a group of 14 F59PHI series, and the one on the last page is part of that series (877). But I don't know enough about locos to know if it's worth discounting the pre-1994 PH series (851-873) outside of what's noted as being sold to NCDOT, scrapped after a collision or still in Metrolink's roster.Which 13 thou?
Video too.Two ex - Metrolink F59PHIs (874 and 877) were seen on a CN Train with the SPTX logos on them (the same reporting marks the ex Metrolink F59PHs destined for GO wore)
Picture is not mine.

I hope they can get parts for all 13. It would mean that model train maker Althern foretold the future with model they used to sell.Just to temper everyone's expectations......
At this time, just 3 of the former Metrolink locomotives are to be rebuilt. ONR has only been able to obtain parts for that many.
However, they are continuing to work on finding and purchasing more components, with the hope that most of the 13 will be able to be rebuilt into operating locomotives.

Won't it be difficult to keep them running since most of the components are no longer manufactured? Plus they punched holes into the engines.Just to temper everyone's expectations......

What makes you think that most of the components are no longer manufactured? The 710 prime mover is used in a lot of other things than just train locomotives, for instance.Won't it be difficult to keep them running since most of the components are no longer manufactured? Does anyone know what Exo is going to do with the F59s that the Chargers will replace? Being ex-GO and then Exo may be they have been worked hard, possibly harder than the Metrolink units, but they may be a parts source for a project like this. What makes you think that most of the components are no longer manufactured? Not only that, but most of the components were common with other locomotives that EMD had built at that time, so it may be a matter of buying different second-hand units for those components.

Doing a great job not being in service
