Frankly the opposition against Ford has failed to grab headlines in any meanigfull way. They've pretty much allowed ford to control the narrative in anything of significance since covid.
Is it confirmed that the bus terminal will be demolished? I thought they had provisions to use a limited amount of bays as the entrance will be closed for OL station construction.
its nonsense talk. they already said theyd build a temp bus loop as that side the station was for construction staging.
It's even harder to rationalize the 6+ year timeline to build 10 km of surface light rail.
And two underground stations. My gosh, how many years just to move the utilities - these aren't simple projects, when you have to keep the road open.
Please do anonymously report this to the Provincial Ombudsman or the Auditor General.
Wasn't this a point of contention between Metrolinx and the contractors? In the contract agreed upon between Metrolinx and the contractors, MX would offer up a financial bonus to the contractors if the project was delivered on time and up to spec. The bonus is meant to try to discourage this type of behaviour. But as the project got closer to completion, MX started pointing out things that they deemed weren't up to spec and had to be done again. Contractor argued that MX was trying to get themselves out of having to pay out the bonus. Lawsuits ensued.
that goes for most govt funded projects. they will want to milk every last nickel they can get by doing the above and proposing outlandish designs.
The intersections along Eglinton in Scarborough have turned into an unsightly mess of traffic lights and signs. Another reason we should have just built a subway. But I digress.
I'd be really surprised if the LRT drivers would make mistakes and enter on their red.
