Some more tangible signs of progress - the Mount Dennis GO station platforms have been cleared of materials, and my GO train slowed to run thru the platforms.

Meanwhile, over at the MSF, the fleet was "out".... far fewer cars visible in the yard than I have ever noted before.

Also, Crosslinx has the responsibility for vehicle availability for a 30 year period (after Substantial Completion?). So if the cars have deteriorated then they will need to arrange for refurbishment or replacement.

Plus, as long as parts remain available, rail vehicles can be run even longer than 30 years. Remember: the first of these vehicles was only delivered to the EMSF on Jan 8, 2019.

Yes, the whole line could run 3 car trains on opening day if they had sufficient trains to do so. There is also space at the Mount Dennis MSF to add more storage tracks for more trains.

If they were to run 3 car trains, they would not run at best frequency (service level 6) but rather at a wider frequency(service level 1). They should have enough cars to run it like that as that is like 19 trains instead of 28 trains.

They would run at service level 7, which has longer headways than service level 6. Service level 1 is premised on 2-RV trains.

It’s too much service for launch day. It’ll take years to build such demand. There isn’t any big employment centre along the line either. So I personally don’t think the ridership will sky rocket till an extension through Etobicoke. Clearly they don’t think so either unless they secretively bought new cars.

Sorry,I did not mean launch day. I meant overall. Lets say it is a week after launch day and the cars are at crush limit for the morning and evening rush. Would it not make sense to buy more cars and when they come in a year or so, get them out on the line to add as much frequency and space as possible?
The way it has been phrased here is that it is impossible to increase frequency due to something other than rolling stock.

I highly doubt that will happen. If it does, good. That means people are flocking to transit.

Something doesn't jive very well with the articles that I was able to find. The first test train only arrived in 2019 according to this article:

Here is another article that states that the first test vehicle was sent to Kingston ON in Nov-2016 for testing. Please note that this is just testing and validation, not delivery to Toronto. Delivery was in 2019 as shown above.

And this article mentions that by Mar-2020, Bombardier only manufactured 30 LRVs with only 2 being accepted by Metrolinx.

So a majority of the vehicles were built less than 5 years ago? Don't know where the 10 years old comment comes from.

We need less short turns, not more.

There is nothing wrong with running half-empty trains terminus-to-terminus; short turning has always been the cheaper alternative to just running more vehicles.
