I think the reality about any downtown development is that many of the sectors are industrial, and located in suburban locations, or residential where it could be cheaper to repurpose older buildings to residential.

I like that City Market and we used to go there usually once a week to grab some quick items but the bums and creeps hanging around 103 just makes it so unpleasant to visit that we’ve opted to just walk all the way to Safeway in Unity Sq.

I’m almost surprised Katz Group et al haven’t bought the Crash Hotel building just to shut it and the liquor store down. Those two drive so much of the disorder on their doorstop.

There’s often more security than customers in there. If it dies, oh boy…..
It's fairly busy during office hours I'd say - probably the main spot my co-workers grab lunch from. But, it's definitely not as busy afterhours. We need more residential units online as that's the biggest issue I think - residential customer base.

Yeah it's pretty busy during office hours and right after, a decent amount of people grab stuff there after work, but most of the problems we have in the area can be solved by just having more people (which is now finally happening).

I guess RTO would help to some degree.

Yes, if someone bought that hotel and fixed it up that could improve things around this area a lot. I am surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Unfortunately the problems with downtown are both that there is not a lot of people living nearby and those that do probably do not venture out to get groceries too late because of such problems here and elsewhere.

Can confirm. No way in hell am I walking up the hill to be accosted by screaming tweakers so I can pick up overpriced milk. Wish we had a No Frills instead, TBH, although it'd be facing the exact same issues. I stopped going to a couple Chinatown grocery stores because of the piles of druggies sitting around the parking lot. No thanks.
