Words don’t express how disappointed I am

At least it’s higher quality I guess.

I think it's fine. A big upgrade from what we had previously.

They said the priority was for concerts, so I think it's perfectly in line with expectations.
We don't really need anything better for NLL and possible future OHL/AHL. If this were made for an NHL/NBA team, then that would be a big problem.

looks like an excellent improvement to me, considering this is a concert first venue I'm impressed with the modern LED setup!

Attendance was 5,706. The lower bowl was pretty full(albeit the premium areas weren’t that full). They definitely reduced the capacity of the lower bowl with the renos as it used to be 8,000 plus.

They market the post Reno in the round concert capacity at 18,000 whereas pre reno max concert capacity was 19,000.

Pre reno hockey/lacrosse capacity was 17,383, if post reno reduction in capacity is in line with concert capacity reduction, we’re probably looking at post reno sports capacity of ~16,000- 16,500.

It makes sense given the new vomitory cut outs at street level, club and suite sections in the lower bowl.

One thing I found interesting was they kept that concrete bunker type structure on the west end of the upper bowl. Taking that out and replacing with seats would’ve added a couple hundred seats.

This arena never felt as big as an 18,000 seat arena, but perhaps that is because there is a real lack of luxury boxes that would add to the height of the building. Scotiabank feel way larger to me even though it only seats 1k or 2k more people.

I went yesterday, took a few pictures, but given others have posted similar ones, I'll refrain.

My impressions are that of disappointment. The renovation isn't bad, it was needed, but it isn't what I hoped for.

Like above it feels small still, and that was with only 5000 people.

They shoehorned a modern arena into an old footprint.

It's fine, but there's no "wow" factor.

Coming in off Bay, there's no grand foyer. It's this awkward situation where the elevator shaft creates this barrier/choke point you have to get around in order to access the new street level concourse.

The York side is wider, the Jackson Square side feels really cramped.

I'm even more convinced now they should have Squared off the corner of YorkenBay for that grand foyer to give it the wow factor and to allow for better crowd flow.

The beer selection is odd and limited.

The event level concourse was apparently closed or only available to ticket holders for that area. It wasn't apparent how your supposed to get down there except for the Bay st. Escalators. I asked the attendant if we could head down there and was told no, only special ticket holders.

The Rogers club looks pretty impressive on the upper concourse, very classy.

The seats are not comfortable. Basically a jump seat with no recline to them. I guess they figured people stand for concerts so not as much of an issue, but how many older folks were standing for 3 hours straight at McCartney or Bocelli?

The concourses felt very bare...boring, plain. Maybe the sports tenants need to program the space or something, but empty hallway feeling.

Iron Cow is connected to the arena, but we weren't allowed to go that way for some reason, had to go outside and then back in.

Even Iron Cow felt awkward, almost like you need to know it's there, not much signage outside.

The interior didn't feel cozy like you expect a pub to feel like. It was a mix of English pub but also high end. The bar itself was really cool and the food was awesome!

The staff at both Iron Cow and the arena we're all excellent. It felt like it leveled up from pre-renos and everyone was professional and "trying" if that makes sense.

I agree with comment above about Scotia Bank arena, I wish TD felt a big.

Overall, something needed to happen, glad we got something, but I'm disappointed and feel Hamilton deserved a lot more.
