Wait isn't there already a ramp down into Riverdale park? Where would this ramp lead to? The Bayview MUP?

Yes I know! but the post was about a parallel ramp, which I took that as being on the west side of the railway corridor, but probably misunderstood. So it's just the one big ramp down to the LDT, as I thought? I didn't think they were changing the existing bridge, but just adding the ramp and maybe a few other tweaks around the trail access point? The old bridge was ramped at Riverdale Park, but was stairs to the Lower Don Trail. The new one is ramped to the Lower Don Trail.

Ahem. Rail Path; do we really want Mx overseeing such a project? (they would insist); their track record is 75M per km of Bike Path, Bloor to Horner is 4km, so that's 300M; another 1km south to Lakeshore (which means a tunnel or bridge over the LSW tracks) and we're at 375M minimum.
LOL
Don't get me wrong, I like the spirit of your idea, but I don't think cycling should touch anything to do with Mx, adjacent to Mx, or over which Mx has even one iota of say, because that will eat the entire cycling budget for the next decade.
Yes, the bridge is unchanged (though painted) and the huge ramp is on the east side of the rail line and supplements the stairs, which remain. Both go to LDT.Yes I know! but the post was about a parallel ramp, which I took that as being on the west side of the railway corridor, but probably misunderstood. Thanks. I've gone over the original post I replied to and the photo a few times, and I think the OP was looking at something on the far (west) side of the rail tracks in the belief it was a parallel ramp structure. In actuality, I think it's just the existing old paths that extend north west from Riverdale Farm. They are a bit of a mystery to me, but definitely are not too useful for cycling, and nothing to do with the current ramp project or other LDT improvements.Yes.
I certainly enjoy biking on the Martin Goodman along the Waterfront but if there were a trail below the Gardiner it would be great as an alternative. As you say it would relieve some of the congestion on the MGT and just be 'different'. I think the proposed new trail will never be as popular for cyclists as there will need to be lights at all the north-south streets. The MGT has very few driveways or streets crossing it in that area. Some media coverage about Toronto's plan to study a seven kilometre trail under the Gardiner from Dufferin to the DVP. Personally, I would rather bike along the Waterfront, but that trail is in serious need of relief from overcrowding.
If the goal is to provide an alternative to the waterfront trail, maybe the city should focus on the trail gap at Lower Garrison Creek park. That's only 125 metres.I certainly enjoy biking on the Martin Goodman along the Waterfront but if there were a trail below the Gardiner it would be great as an alternative. wasnt there that park that was supposed to be built there? i remember hearing about it a few years ago, but in any case, knowing how often old fort york is closed, im not sure its worth itIf the goal is to provide an alternative to the waterfront trail, maybe the city should focus on the trail gap at Lower Garrison Creek park. To get out of the core by bike I would avoid the crazy and dangerous MGT on the weekend. I would take Esplanade to Yonge Path South under the Gardiner to Bay, south to the Harbour Rd path, west to YO YO Ma Lane and then ride Queens Quay for 400m to Bathurst then to Stadium Rd. I have taken the Go train home a number of times from Niagara, Burlington, Oakville, Port Credit to avoid the return ride home on Sunday afternoons on the MGT East of Park Lawn all tougher. Some media coverage about Toronto's plan to study a seven kilometre trail under the Gardiner from Dufferin to the DVP. Yes, a park is planned for that area - not sure what the hold up is, I assume @Northern Light may have the answer :->wasnt there that park that was supposed to be built there? i remember hearing about it a few years ago, but in any case, knowing how often old fort york is closed, im not sure its worth it
