I agree and its sad because there are so many good opportunities for MUP's adjacent to MX track.

Yes, the bridge is unchanged (though painted) and the huge ramp is on the east side of the rail line and supplements the stairs, which remain. Both go to LDT.

Thanks. I've gone over the original post I replied to and the photo a few times, and I think the OP was looking at something on the far (west) side of the rail tracks in the belief it was a parallel ramp structure. In actuality, I think it's just the existing old paths that extend north west from Riverdale Farm. They are a bit of a mystery to me, but definitely are not too useful for cycling, and nothing to do with the current ramp project or other LDT improvements.

Some media coverage about Toronto's plan to study a seven kilometre trail under the Gardiner from Dufferin to the DVP. Personally, I would rather bike along the Waterfront, but that trail is in serious need of relief from overcrowding.

I certainly enjoy biking on the Martin Goodman along the Waterfront but if there were a trail below the Gardiner it would be great as an alternative. As you say it would relieve some of the congestion on the MGT and just be 'different'. I think the proposed new trail will never be as popular for cyclists as there will need to be lights at all the north-south streets. The MGT has very few driveways or streets crossing it in that area.

If the goal is to provide an alternative to the waterfront trail, maybe the city should focus on the trail gap at Lower Garrison Creek park. That's only 125 metres.

wasnt there that park that was supposed to be built there? i remember hearing about it a few years ago, but in any case, knowing how often old fort york is closed, im not sure its worth it

To get out of the core by bike I would avoid the crazy and dangerous MGT on the weekend. I would take Esplanade to Yonge Path South under the Gardiner to Bay, south to the Harbour Rd path, west to YO YO Ma Lane and then ride Queens Quay for 400m to Bathurst then to Stadium Rd. I have taken the Go train home a number of times from Niagara, Burlington, Oakville, Port Credit to avoid the return ride home on Sunday afternoons on the MGT East of Park Lawn all tougher.
Richmond bike lane was an optional way out the core to Fort York at times.

Similarly to the City web pages for the work on Market Lane Park and David Crombie Park, this one says "Construction Starting fall 2025". The City Project Manager for the two St Lawrence parks told me that this means 'pre-construction' and that 'boots on the ground" will appear 'in the spring. The City apparently has a somewhat elastic definition of the seasons (and "start"!)
